What SVI Fokus is

SVI Fokus is a small, independent team explaining the citizenship test and the route to Swedish citizenship. We gather what is otherwise scattered — the law, the requirements, the dates, the study material — and write it up in language you can follow even if your Swedish is still shaky.

We publish in several languages, because someone preparing for a test in Swedish often needs the substance explained in their strongest language first.

Why the site exists

The information about citizenship exists, but it sits with several agencies at once. Migrationsverket owns the application, UHR owns the test, the Tax Agency owns the population register. The texts are accurate but written in official Swedish, and someone still learning the language reads them slowly or gives up.

Rumours grow in that gap. Since the law was passed, figures have circulated about the number of questions, test dates and pass marks that no agency has published. We started SVI Fokus so that there would be one place stating what is confirmed, what is merely expected, and what is pure hearsay.

We are not a government body

SVI Fokus is not a government body and has no remit from the state. We process no cases, receive no applications, book no test slots and cannot influence a decision in your case. Nor do we have any visibility into what your file says.

We are not a news agency either, and we are not lawyers. We do no original news reporting and we give no legal advice. What you read here is general information, not an answer about your own situation.

Citizenship decisions are made by Migrationsverket. Questions about the test — registration, dates, format and results — belong with UHR. Where anything you read here differs from what an agency states, the agency's version is the one that counts.

Behind the site is a small team that follows migration and citizenship questions in Sweden. We do it because we think the topic matters, not on behalf of any authority, political party or organisation. Nobody pays us to write anything in particular.
