The amount is what you must have left each month after housing costs are paid, to cover everyday expenses like food, clothes, phone, electricity, hygiene and insurance. Migrationsverket's guide amounts for 2026 are roughly:

  • Single adult: about SEK 6,243 per month.
  • Cohabiting spouses or partners: about SEK 10,314 per month together.
  • Children aged 0–6: about SEK 3,336; 7–10: about SEK 4,004; 11–14: about SEK 4,672; 15 and older: about SEK 5,339 per month.
  • The per-child amount is reduced by any child allowance you receive.
