Can I change employer or job while I hold a work permit?

• During your first permit period: if you move to a new employer, change occupation, or get new duties, you must apply for a new work permit.
• You may start the new job before a decision if you applied before your current permit expired.
• Once the permit has been extended (after roughly two years of work) you may usually change employer within the same occupation without a new application.
• Moving to a different occupation always needs a new permit.
• If you lose your job you have a limited grace period to find new work while the permit stays valid.
