The salary requirement changed with the reform on 1 June 2026. This is how it works:
- Standard rule: the monthly salary must be at least 90% of the median wage (up from 80%).
- The median wage is published by SCB (Statistics Sweden). With the value in force from 16 June 2026 the median wage is SEK 38,300/month, giving a threshold of about SEK 34,470/month.
- About 20 exempted occupations instead require 75% of the median wage (about SEK 28,725/month). Which occupations are exempt is set by regulation and can change.
- Your pay must also match Swedish collective agreements or what is customary in the occupation.
The figure is recomputed every time SCB updates the median wage, and the number that counts is the one in force on the date you apply. So always check the current amount with Migrationsverket.
