Updated

You must be able to prove guaranteed means of support — through salary, scholarship or money in the bank — for every month the permit covers. Migrationsverket sets a guideline level each year.

  • For 2026 applications the guideline amount is at least about SEK 10,656 per month (SEK 10,584 for 2025).
  • The amount can be reduced if food or housing is provided free (2026: about SEK 2,960 per month for free food and SEK 4,736 per month for free housing).
  • Bank statements must be recent — issued no more than four months before the permit start date.

These figures are set every year and change. Treat no figure as fixed — check the current amount with Migrationsverket before you apply.
