- Final admission to full-time studies (30 higher-education credits per semester counts as full-time). Fee-paying students are only finally admitted once the tuition fee is paid.
- Proven means of support for the whole permit period (see the current amount in the self-support question).
- Comprehensive health insurance if your total stay is shorter than one year.
- A valid passport. Distance-only courses do not qualify.
- For permits granted on or after 11 June 2026, you must also register your address with Migrationsverket within 30 days and meet study-result thresholds to extend.
- The application fee is about SEK 1,500 for adults and SEK 750 for children — the fee can change, so check the current amount.
